Bradley-Bourbonnais Community High School is again bringing in a school safety dog
for the 2008-2009 school year. It is our hope that students will always
make good decisions. The purpose of bringing in a school safety dog is to
remind students that bringing inappropriate items to school is
unacceptable. We believe BBCHS is a great school and we want to keep it
that way. The school safety dog is a Golden Retriever named Dandy. She is
trained to find most items that should not be in a school including:
q Illegal Drugs
q Prescription Drugs
q Alcohol
q Abused Over the Counter Drugs
q Guns, Gun Powder and Gun Residue
q Bombs
The school safety dog is a very gentle and friendly dog that is owned by InterQuest K-9 of Chicago. The company has several dogs throughout the country whose sole purpose is to maintain school safety. Dandy will be visiting several times this year and will be active in both the building and parking lot. A trained professional will escort her.
The school safety dog is one portion of the safety improvements we have added this year including the addition of student safety monitors, traffic pattern changes in the parking lots, new walkie-talkies that are tied to local emergency response agencies, and an improved automated phone dialing system for emergencies.
If you have any concerns about this addition to the safety program, please feel free to contact the Student Affairs Office at (815) 937-3707 ext. 3717.
